Royal baby’s name and what it will look like, according to the bookies

Punters have put big money on Kate and William's new Royal baby being an “Alice” or an “Arthur”, as well as many other things.

The new Royal baby’s name is just one thing British punters have been putting huge money on in the lead up to it’s much anticipated arrival this month.

Everything from the gender of Kate and William’s second child, to the baby’s weight, its date of birth and even to the colour of the dress Kate will wear when she shows off her new darling to the world have been worth a bet at the bookies.

Ladbrokes odds-on favourites for the Royal baby’s name:

GIRL:
Alice — 5/4
Elizabeth — 6/1
Charlotte — 6/1
Victoria — 14/1
Diana — 14/1
Alexandra — 16/1
Catherine — 25/1
Mary — 25/1
Eleanor — 25/1
Margaret — 25/1

BOY:
Arthur — 6/1
James — 20/1
Henry — 25/1
Philip — 25/1
William — 25/1
Frances — 25/1
Albert — 25/1
Alexander — 25/1
Spencer — 25/1
Michael — 25/1

Confident punters say that the baby would be:
  • Born on 24 or 25 April
  • Born in the morning
  • Weigh 8 pounds
  • Have brown hair
And the smart money’s on
  • Kate holding the baby in the first photo
  • Kate wearing a pink dress in the first photo

According to betting house Ladbrokes, over 20,000 bets were placed on the royal baby being a girl.

Royal baby obsession

But the bookies are not the only ones obsessed with the Royal birth. Royalists have been camping outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London for days now to catch a glimpse of the proud new parents and maybe even a debut Royal wave.
