GET OUT your Veet and hide your sisters, Australia! MTV has today announced that the upcoming sixth season of hit British reality show Geordie Shore will be filmed Down Under, with the show’s nine stars arriving in the next few months.

Geordie Shore explores on the hard-partying antics of nine young Brits from the north-eastern city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The show, an adaptation of the American smash-hit Jersey Shore, has popularised the Geordie lifestyle of ‘man-scaping’, ‘pulling birds’ and having ‘wicked banter’ across the globe and has struck a particular chord with Australian fans.

The last month has seen an influx of Geordie Shore cast members visiting Australia on a promotional tour in advance of the fifth season’s premiere on MTV Australia this week. Resident Geordie Shore stud Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle went on a whirlwind tour of the country in late January, DJing to huge crowds from the Gold Coast to Melbourne.

Fellow cast members Charlotte Crosby and James Tindale visited Australia in early February, while Vicky Pattison and recent addition Scott Timlin are due to make personal appearances in Australian clubs from next week on.

Crosby, who had a short-lived holiday romance with an Australian in the show’s third season, said that she was excited to be filming the next series of Geordie Shore in Australia and saw a lot of comparisons between Australian culture and that of her home town.

Crosby said: “Filming down under is going to be mint! Just like filming in Newcastle but with a perma-tan and a load of shrimps!”

Crosby’s cast mate Sophie Kasaei also registered her happiness to be filming in Australia. She said that she and her cast mates would be happy to escape the wet and cold British winter for a stint of partying under the Australian sun.

Kasaei said: “”We can’t wait to get out of this s**t weather in Newcastle! We’re going to take Australia by storm and show all those Aussie lads and sheilas how us Geordies party!”

Beadle, who visited Australia in January, described Australian fans of Geordie Shore as “literally wild” and said that the nightlife in Australia was a highlight due to the enthusiasm of the fans and the fact that “every club I go to is rammed”.

Beadle said: “When you go to the UK people see you all the time,” dished the star.

“[In Australia] they know they’re going to come see you now and they probably won’t see you again, so people are more eager to get there, more eager to go to the clubs, more keener. It’s weird for them seeing you in Australia, so the crowds have been literally amazing. Like I said the clubs are the craziest we’ve ever had.”

Geordie Shore will undoubtedly prove to be a major boon for Australian tourism, with the show regularly attracting over one million viewers per episode during season four and the Geordie Shore twitter account boasting 5.6 million followers.

The current season of Geordie Shore premiered last week and follows the cast members on a trip throughout Europe. Geordie Shore can be seen on MTV at 10pm on Tuesday night.
