Chinese New Year comes a little later than the traditional times many would celebrate New Years Day. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many families are still unable to see one another. Especially China’s strict restrictions at the moment.

What is Chinese New Year all about?

According to the post, Chinese New Year is about leaving the old in the past and making room for the new. Just the same, one would get rid of negative energies that have been part of lives to welcome more positive energies.

Before the Chinese New Year commences, many take part in cleaning out their homes so that they may welcome the prosperity that has been mentioned above. However, take care not to clean out your homes on New Year’s day as you might be cleaning out all your good fortune.

Generally, all families in different countries celebrate in different ways, but the concept remains the same. This year will be the year of the tiger and what this means is that the year will be very much fast-paced and filled with adventure!

Celebrating the new year in different parts of the world

Now, since the pandemic took much of that joy away for almost three years now, many have sought alternatives to be with their families. Evidently, the one major option is to conduct it virtually. This will not be the same as celebrating it in person but it can take away some of the homesickness one might feel.

Some traditions include exchanging or giving red envelopes with money. Photo: AdobeStock

According to one Chinese Australian, his celebration with his family cannot be had due to the limited amount of flights from Australia to China. Simultaneously, China has a good amount of restrictions that is preventing families from being with one another during these special celebrations. This, however, is not stopping them from celebrating.
