What you don’t know about Roulette

Roulette is the oldest casino game. It\'s a fun game that doesn't really require any skill, ideal for novices. The aim of the game is to guess which number on the wheel the white ball thrown by the dealer will land on. To do this, you can make different types of bets.

Whether you play roulette online or in a land casino,  there are certainly things you don’t know about roulette!

There are different types of roulette:

European Roulette: it is the most popular and widespread version of Roulette. Its table consists of 37 numbered squares of two colours: 18 of them are red, 18 others are black. The 37th square is the famous 0 square. If the player has the misfortune to draw the zero, he loses his entire bet without having any chance of recovering it, unless of course he has bet on it.

American roulette: Compared to its European counterpart, American roulette has a special feature: it has 38 slots instead of 37 for European roulette. While the European roulette wheel has a numbered box from 1 to 36 and a 0 box on the dial, the American variant has another box that is feared by all players, the 00 box (or double zero).

French Roulette: This roulette is derived from the Pascaline, invented by the mathematician Blaise Pascal. One of the differences between the French Roulette and other variations of the roulette wheel is the layout of the table. In French roulette, the numbers are not coloured and the distribution of the numbers and boxes on the table is particular. For example, the single bets are located on the side edges of the table. In addition, while the black, even and pass boxes are on the left side of the table, the red, odd and miss boxes are on the right side. Finally, another major distinction is the existence of a unique rule in French roulette : the “jailbreak”

English roulette: the number of simultaneous players allowed to take part in an English roulette game is limited to seven. There is no \”jailbreak\” rule in this variation. This means that a player who bets on a single odds (red, black, even, odd, pass and miss) but draws a zero directly loses half of his or her English roulette bet.

Mexican Roulette: Mexican Roulette does have some special features not found in other Roulette variations. The major difference is the number of zero spaces. In Mexican roulette, there are not one, not two, but three zero spaces! This is why Mexican Roulette is cleverly called Triple Zero Roulette.

Past numbers don’t change anything

Contrary to popular belief, past numbers do not affect the game. Roulette rolls are called \”independent\” in mathematical jargon. In other words, the probability of a number coming up that has not come up in 100 rolls is no higher than if it had just come up on the previous roll. Only bet on a number that hasn\’t come up for a long time if you don\’t know which one to play. But bear in mind that you are not optimising your bet by choosing a \”rare\” number.

Even though it is a game of chance, it’s possible to play strategically

The Martingale is a betting technique that would allow you to win for sure in all games of chance. The classic Martingale is also known as d\’Alembert\’s Martingale. The Martingale system has its origin in mathematical theory. The technique consists of doubling your bet on every losing move but stopping when you win. In practice, to use the Martingale, you need to have a very large betting capacity. Indeed, if you lose several times in a row, you must be able to double your previous bet each time.
