An accident occurred on January 22 in Sydney, Australia. In the investigation into the accident, a man was blamed for the accident because he was speeding.

It was observed that the driver was moving at a speed of 144 km/h in the area marked 70 km/h. In fact, it was determined in the records that the man reached a speed of 170 km/h on the same route.

The accident occurred after the car crashed into a concrete pillar. The 29-year-old driver, who was thought to have caused the accident, was arrested.

While one of the passengers in the car with the driver was not injured, another was slightly injured. Both are hospitalised for precautionary and treatment purposes.

While the license of the arrested young driver is suspended; It is stated that the court will be on April 18.

High speed kills in traffic!

High speed driving behaviour is a very important traffic violation that has a direct impact on the number of accidents. In the report titled Managing Speed, which was prepared by the World Health Organization, the definition of speeding behaviour was adopted as excessive speeding above the legal speed limit or driving at a high speed that does not exceed the legal speed limit but is not suitable for the current conditions.

In other words, when deciding whether the speed of a vehicle is high, both the legal speed limit and the environment in which the vehicle is located should be considered.

The higher the speed, the harder it is to control the vehicle. In some cases, this combined with environmental conditions can lead to an accident.

Accidents may not be caused directly by the negligence or irresponsibility of the person. There are too many dynamics in traffic and no matter how careful you are, you can be injured because of someone else breaking the rules. If you encounter such a situation, you can get legal support from accident lawyers.

In addition, when a vehicle traveling at high speed encounters an obstacle that requires it to stop, it needs more distance on the one hand, and on the other hand, since the distance the vehicle will travel within the required reaction time of the driver to stop, some of the available distance is swallowed up again due to speed. For this reason, the faster the vehicle encounters an obstacle on the road, the harder it is to stop at the right point, which increases the probability of an accident.

The results, after several changes to speed legislation in Australia, show the danger of speeding!

In 1992, injury accidents increased by 25% when the legal speed limit was increased from 100 km/h to 110 km/h in Australia, while another study reported in 1996 in Victoria, Australia based on increases of 5-20 km/h. It was stated that the accidents increased by 8%.

In 1987, the speed limit around Melbourne in Australia was increased from 100 km/h to 110 km/h, and in 1989 it was reduced to 100 km/h again. Compared to a control zone where the speed limit has not changed, the number of injury accidents per kilometre travelled increased by 24% during the period of increased speed and decreased by 19.3% during the period when the speed limit was reduced.

Can passengers who were injured in this Sydney accident claim compensation?

It may be possible to compensate for the damages incurred after the accident. Compensation that can be claimed may include compensation for your economic loss, treatment costs, etc.

Every accident is unique. For this reason, the situation should be analysed well. If you are located in NSW, you can find out what compensation you can claim by consulting with compensation lawyers in NSW.

In addition, the severity of your injuries after an accident or the size of your loss can also change how much the compensation amount will be. CTP lawyers in NSW will understand your situation and explain what needs to be done.
