Try Tag Rugby All-Stars win Malta Tag Rugby Festival

The Try Tag Rugby All-Stars have lived up to their tournament favourites title going through the 2011 Malta International Tag Rugby Festival undefeated, beating French outfit, Montpellier 5-2 in the final.

THE Try Tag Rugby All-Stars have lived up to their tournament favourites title going through the 2011 Malta International Tag Rugby Festival undefeated, beating French outfit, Montpellier 5-2 in the final.

The inaugural tournament which was played at Victor Tedesco stadium in Hamrun, Malta had seven teams vying for the title. The Maltese weather didn’t disappoint with matches played out in 34 degree temperatures.

Along the way the All-Stars defeated Black & Yellow 28-0, ME 22-0 and Aussie Ex-Pats 18-2 in the semi-final. London Australia representative, Belinda Walmsley was named, “player of the final” with London New Zealand representative, Shay Wilson being named “player of the tournament”.

The Try Tag Rugby All-Stars are made up of players who compete in Try Tag Rugby competitions throughout London.

Try Tag Rugby All-Stars (Malta): Yamen El-Afifi, Pat Ginty, Hamish Jones, Peter Kendhammer, Arron Lombardo, Mike Morris, Shun Tamura, Shay Wilson, Michelle Hayes (c), Lauren Jolly, Anita McDonald, Belinda Walmsley

Try Tag Rugby will be sending three teams to the Bull N Booze Tag Rugby Festival in Bruff, Ireland departing this Friday (12 August). The Try Tag Rugby All-Stars are the reigning Bull N Booze A grade champions from 2011.

Meanwhile, the autumn competition details have been released with the first league starting 23 August. Venues include: Acton, Balham, Barnes, Bermondsey, Borough, Highbury, Kingsbury, Rotherhithe & Wood Green

Registrations for the mixed and men’s autumn competitions are now open. New teams or individual registrations are welcome.
