In the 1990s, R Kelly’s crimes were first brought to light with many victims coming forward about the sexual abuse they faced from R Kelly. Thus far, most of the stories mirrored one another.

When the sexual abuse first became public, R Kelly was at the height of his career. This meant he could easily do away with the allegations made against him. In this way, the singer could still use his money and fame to control minors.

According to ABC News, most of R Kelly’s victims were met at his concerts and during mall performances. Most of the time, people who worked for R Kelly would hand out little notes to underaged girls with the singer’s contact details on them.

Apart from his 30-year sentence given yesterday, R Kelly still faces a separate trial on the basis that he covered up a sex tape he made back in 2008. This is set to take place sometime in August this year.

Previously, in a documentary called Surviving R Kelly, one of the singer’s family members revealed that the artist was sexually abused by one of his aunts. As explained by the relative, the producer strangely felt good about it and even possibly enjoyed it.
