Queenslanders in London urged to vote this week in state election

Voting in London is underway for the Queensland State Election. Registered overseas voters can cast their ballot up till 6pm this Friday, 24 November, in London.

London based Labor supporters showed their support for the re-election of the Annastacia Palaszczuk-led ALP state government in Queensland, posing for a photo (above) outside the iconic Big Ben which is currently being restored.

ALP Abroad President Paul Smith urged overseas Queenslanders to vote, warning of the potential influence of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation on the Liberal National Party in what polls are indicating is shaping up to be a neck-and-neck tussle.

“Vote for a Labor government they can be proud of while overseas that also has a plan to provide jobs in Queensland when they return,” Smith said.

“The stakes are high with polls showing a clear choice between a Labor government or LNP one that will rely upon One Nation for support.”

Meanwhile, speaking at the LNP campaign launch at the weekend, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull described the Palaszczuk government as “lazy” and “do nothing green”, claiming it was a threat to the state’s coal industry.
