NSW Nurses have made a point of going on strike due to unbearable hospital conditions. Nurses refuse to do work where the staff is limited and their patients are in danger. They have, however, received strict instructions not to go through with the strike.
NSW Nurses strike for change
About 150 public hospitals have participated in the strike against unfair working conditions. According to the nurses, a thank you simply isn’t enough. They require a raise for the work that they are doing.
These faithful healthcare workers do not feel comfortable with tending to patients while the staff is extremely limited. This limits the amount of work they can do and the effective service that they can give to their patients.
Nurses wait for government assistance
Presently, the government has done nothing to support the nurses in their plea but has instead been asked not to go through with their strike. But, the nurses are determined to get what they have asked for. According to The Guardian, the nurses have relayed that they will only get angrier if they are not met halfway.
“This government is under-resourcing the health system and it’s creating trauma for us,”

As reported by The Guardian, Nurses want ratios of one nurse to every four patients on every shift and a pay increase above the government’s prescribed public sector offer of 2.5%.
It is with no doubt that the nurses have been thrown into the deep end during the coronavirus pandemic and the pressure is certainly on. Thousands of nurses have rallied outside of parliament in order to get some assistance with their pleas.
