Madeleine McCann went missing just days before her fourth birthday. Her parents along with her sibling were on vacation in Portugal at the time.

A breakthrough is made in the Madeleine McCann case

Right now, the main suspect that has been previously named Chris Breukner is currently serving a sentence in jail. That is, for the rape of a 72-year-old woman.

The crime the convicted committed was in the same vicinity as Madeleine. This drew extensive attention to Chris Breukner as he also worked at the holiday resort.

Three years before the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, Chris Breukner is reported to have raped another woman within the same area.

Madeleine would be missing for 15 years on May 3rd

By this year May, Madeleine McCann would be missing for 15 years. Thus far, the police have not identified the suspect by name as the suspect would also need to be notified about this charge.

Right now, many fingers point to Chris Breukner who has gotten into trouble with the law for a myriad of things. With rape being only one of them.

Christian Brueckner has been identified as a suspect in the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann in Portugal in 2007.

According to 7News, the reason why Portuguese prosecutors identified the unnamed suspect is not yet clear.  Previously, Breukner has denied being involved in her disappearance.
