Robert Hughes will be a free man before June 14th as his six-year non-parole period has surpassed in 2020. Since then, Hughes has been denied parole twice and secured his freedom on his third attempt.

Sex offender Robert Hughes to be released from prison

So far, several of his sexual abuse victims appeared in court to be present for the hearing. This includes Sarah Monahan who he was convicted of sexually abusing.

According to Perth Now, Robert Hughes sexual offenses were committed before he landed the big role as a widowed father on Hey Dad! The popular tv show ran for seven years.

In 2014, Robert Hughes was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years and nine months in prison. With six years of non-parole to be granted. Right now, the court believes that he poses no threat to society given his conviction and sentencing.

“He no longer enjoys such power or trust, as a direct consequence of the convictions and the consequent widespread adverse publicity, notwithstanding his defiant denials.”

Victim believes he will commit offenses again

Thus far, Sarah Monahan believes that Robert Hughes still faces a huge threat to society. She expressed that Hughes has not admitted that he did anything wrong and that he maintained his innocence since.

“He’s a denier, so he still thinks he hasn’t done anything wrong. So, he’ll keep doing wrong things.”

Upon his release, Robert Hughes will immediately be deported to the UK. It is reported that his freedom will be granted no later than the 14th of June.
