Pewdiepie: Youtuber apologizes after making fun of deaf Tik Toker

Pewdiepie recently came under fire for an inappropriate joke he made about a deaf TikTok user. The Youtuber recently apologized for it.

Pewdiepie is a well-known YouTuber who has millions of followers. The content creator recently came under fire for his inappropriate remarks about a deaf Tik Tok user. 

Youtuber makes fun of Tik Tok user

Thus far, Pewdiepie states that he was not aware that the individual was deaf. Regardless, fans and supporters were not very happy about the latest video he created. 

So far, Pewdiepie took to Youtube to comment on a variety of videos. One of these videos was from a Tik Tok user explaining her experience at a drive-thru. 

Upon starting the video, Pewdiepie controversially stated that he will not listen to the video. The Youtuber said, “I’m not listening to this,”

Following this, the Youtuber continued to criticize the woman’s nails by referencing it to his dogs nails. 

“Look, she has your crazy nails, Maya,”

The Youtuber, rubbed everyone the wrong way when he continued to imitate the woman by gesturing with his hands and then noted “Sorry, are my nails distracting you guys?”

Tik Tok user responds 

In his recent apology, Pewdiepie states that he didn’t realize that the individual was deaf and that “it was kind of dum of [him] not to realize that.”

One commenter said that the “Woman with the nails wasn’t trying to be extra, she was signing because she is literally deaf,” one person wrote, while another added, “So a deaf person signing is considered ‘TikTok cringe’ now.. Wtf.”

Right now, the woman named Scarlet May has since been removed from the Youtube video. So far, the Tik Toker shared that she was not surprised that this happened.

As reported by People, the Tik Toker shared a new post detailing the recent drama. She shared some of the struggles that deaf people got through and the impact the Youtuber’s actions had. 

You don’t just get to mock deaf people who’ve already been struggling for years with people like you and go about your day like nothing happened,” she added, ultimately ending the post by saying, “We all live and learn. If he did not know before he definitely knows now.”
