MasterChef Australia season six: Promises to be best yet

Sixth season judges Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston, Kylie Kwong, and George Calombaris dished out the compliments on the opening episode of MasterChef Australia.

This Logie Award-winning reality show promises to show case the best amateur Australian cooks yet.  Hoping to re-capture the two-million viewers once glued to their screens before season 5 – which had disappointing viewership results.

While this season’s contestants have significantly raised the bar compliments dripped from the judges’ lips describing some of the dishes as: “exceptional”, “unbelievable”, “absolutely delicious”, “amazing” and “one of the best bisques we’ve ever tasted in this competition since day one.” The 50 cooks who participated in the first round will be vying for the $250 000 prize money.

This year the MasterChef kitchen and set is void of all branding and is styled simply yet beautifully to represent a market with pallets of mouth-watering produce stacked around the set.

Judge George Calombaris shed 20 kilograms and jokingly Greg Mehigan and Matt Preston set an early challenge to the 2014 hopefuls to “fatten him up”.

Season 6 first airs in Australia on 5th May at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and is again filmed in Flemington, Victoria at Royal Melbourne Show Ground.
