Madeleine Albright is one of the most influential people in the world. Right now, the announcement of her death has saddened many across the world.

As reported by the Daily Maverick, Madeleine Albright, unfortunately, passed on after her struggles with cancer. She is reported to have had her family around her before her passing.

History on Madeleine Albright

As an 11-year-old girl, Madeleine had lost most of her family during the time the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia. But, this didn’t determine where Madeleine would go in life.

In a difficult circumstance, Madeleine Albright had to flee her homeland and would immigrate to England and then move to America a decade later.

More on Madeleine

During her time in America, Madeleine became an American citizen in 1957 and pursued a formal qualification. According to NPR, Madeleine had earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and would further pursue her honors degree at Columbia University in 1959.

While her past proved trying, Madeleine vowed not to have this dictate her future. She later found herself to be the first female secretary. That is, for the former president Bill Clinton from the year 1997 to 2001.

Today, Madeleine Albright has become and will remain an inspiration to women who seek respect in the workplace. Her bravery in questioning authority has since set a standard for others to stand for what they believe in.

According to previous reports, Madeleine was born Marie Jana Korbelova in Prague. Her family fled to London when the Nazis occupied Czechoslovakia. She was raised as a Roman Catholic but documents later showed that she was actually Jewish.

Reports relay that her parents most likely converted to avoid persecution while the Nazis gained strength in Europe. While some saw her practice as Roman Catholic as ignorant, she actually did not have any clue about her heritage.
