Naomi Wolf will be a guest speaker at the Women of the World Festival

In London, there are opportunities everyday for women (and men) to connect, learn and broaden their understanding of women in the world. Highlights include:

WOW Women of the World Festival
6 — 10 March, Southbank Centre

WOW is an annual global festival of talks, debates, music, film and comedy at the Southbank Centre. It is a chance to celebrate women’s achievements, and discuss the obstacles they face throughout the world. The schedule of events is eye opening in itself, with a diverse range of speakers and artists, presenting on a variety of compelling subjects. One notable speaker is the author, social critic, and political activist Naomi Wolf, who in her talk will be raising awareness of the inequities that exist in society.

The Forgotten Women of The War on Terror
7 March, 18.00 to 20.00, Osmani Centre

The status of women in the Muslim world is always topical, however little attention has been given to the women directly impacted by counter-terrorism policies. CagePrisoners, a human rights organisation is hosting a series of talks about the daily struggles of these forgotten women, which includes the wives of Guantanamo Bay detainees and the families of the prisoners recently extradited to America. Speakers include Victoria Brittain, former foreign editor of the Guardian.

International Women’s Day — Move Three Sixty
8 March 9.00 to 21.00, 8 Canfield Place

International Women’s Day Conference

Qantas Australian Woman of the Year Award
13 March, ME London Hotel

The winner of the Qantas Australian Woman of the Year award will be announced at an evening reception at ME London Hotel. This award promotes, recognises and celebrates the achievements of Australian women in the UK. The winner will receive a return business class ticket to Melbourne or Sydney and a perpetual trophy, and they will become an ambassador representing Qantas and Australian Business at a number of events.
