Gilbert Gottfried: Beloved US comedian and actor dies at 67

Gilbert Gottfried has sadly lost his life after years of struggling with his heart disorder. His family shared that his death is extremely sad news but that his fans may laugh as loud as they can in his honor.

In the 1980s, Gilbert first shot to fame by making appearances on MTV as well as appearing on SNL for a stint. Most popularly, Gilbert could be remembered for his voice-over for the parrot Iago in Disney’s Alladin. 

According to The Guardian, Gilbert Gottfried will be remembered for his often offensive but funny jokes. His scorched voice and personality caught the attention of many and played many roles in a few films.

While his untimely death saddens many, countless individuals are sharing what they loved most about Gilbert. That list includes his family members. 

“Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.” 

Till today, Gilbert Gottfried encapsulates everything that a comedian is. That is, making jokes about things people would consider taboo.

Just recently, Gilbert weighed in on the Will Smith and Chris Rock scandal. He posted a picture of himself alongside Rock while prompting the thoughts of his followers. 

“Which is the worst crime? Chris Rock being physically assaulted or Chris Rock telling a joke?”

In the wake of the unfortunate news, his friend and podcast co-host Frank Santopadre shared a few words about the late Gilbert Gottfried. 

“Those who loved and him were fortunate enough to share his orbit knew a person who was sweet, sensitive, surprisingly shy and filled with a childlike sense of playfulness and wonder.”
