Eurovision used to be a competition for Europeans only. This is through an effort to unite Europeans after the Second World War. But, the competition has since become an event to represent music from all over.

2022 Eurovision competition

Today, the Eurovision music festival officially kicked off. There’s so much in store as the event is set to take place till the 15th of May. Are you ready for the music extravaganza?

Now, as one would expect, Russia is not allowed to compete following the invasion of Ukraine at this very moment. Thus far, there isn’t any word on Vladimir Putin stopping his invasive acts.

While this may seem a bit unfair, everyone is standing in solidarity with Ukraine as their country is suffering severe damage in every way. Thus far, the country was completely blindsided by the invasion when it first took place.

Where to watch the competition

If you’re planning on watching the Eurovision extravaganza, SBS will be covering the exciting show. As different acts will be performing some original songs in order to win the competition.

So, the artist representing Australia is Sheldon Riley. Hopefully, he’ll win the competition and represent his country well. But rumor has it that Ukraine might win this year as shared by ABC News.

Now, if Australia actually wins the competition this year, the country will get a chance to host the event for the very first time.

Right now, Ukrainians are happy that they will be represented. Their flag will be flying high with their folk rap band in the competition.

Who knows, perhaps Ukraine will make it this year. But we will be rooting for our Aussie Sheldon Riley.
