Where the crawdads sing is both mystery and thriller

Where the crawdads sing is a film adapted by one of the best-selling novels around and if you’ve read it, you will not be disappointed by the visual interpretation of it.

Where the crawdads sing gives mystery and drama

In the opening scene, we see a young woman or girl if you will, in court being accused of murder. She seems completely distressed as she is faced with a community that seems to hate her.

This film centers on the life of a little girl named Kya who was raised by a single parent. When she suddenly loses her mother, her world is turned upside down.

At this point, Kya has to fend for herself as she has no other family to support her. To survive, Kya sells mussels for a living and finds herself alone for much of her life in Where the crawdads sing.

Kya the abandoned child

Since Kya lives on her own and supports herself, she becomes very withdrawn and reserved. Quite frankly, she grabs the attention of two young men who finds her mysterious as reported by the Collider.

At some point, Where the crawdads sing showcases Kya falling for one guy and kissing him by the riverside. Suspiciously, another in a rowboat doesn’t seem too happy about seeing them together.

Things suddenly start crumbling down when her ex-lover gets murdered and she is arrested in relation to this crime. Right then, the burning question is who had done it?

While in her prison cell, Kya speaks to an elderly man amount the way the community hates her for no reason. It is brought to our attention very early on that people call her the girl from the marshes and create a stigma around where she comes from.

From thereon, the trailer gives us little flashes of what happens in the film from Kya driving in a police car to a fight breaking out by the river. Adding another touch, Where the crawdads sing also features an original Taylor Swift song!

So, it is safe to say that there is a lot to unpack and things we don’t quite understand yet. But, I’m sure it will deliver!
