While the Banksy painting has caught much attention, others are not so convinced that it deserves all the attention.
If we think about art, it is not something we should think of as simple. Considering William Shakespeare’s work, it is clear that the best forms of art is often complicated. Banksy’s art? Not so much.
With Banksy what you see is what you get
Upon looking at the painting, we see a girl reaching out for her balloon that has been gusted away by the wind. Anything else? I don’t think so.
In viewing a piece of work that is worth viewing, we often find that there are some intricate layers to what we’re looking at. It often takes time at that. While we can come up with many meanings to what the painting could possibly embody, it lacks intricacy.
Presently, the Banksy painting has been sold for more than 18 million euros which is quite a record for the artist.
Even though we might have our own reservations about the value and meaning of this painting, Banksy rose to prominence through a series of graffiti pieces that appeared on buildings across Britain, marked by their satirical themes.
So, we do not know what will come next Banksy is no stranger to making headlines.
