The Cat Empire brings the party to back London in June 2015, this time at the famous Royal Albert Hall.

This marks a milestone moment for the band, which have had the prestigious venue on their radar since the early part of their career.

“We feel right at home in London venues.  Shepherds Bush Empire is one of our favourite venues in the world” said co-front man and trumpeter Harry James Angus.

“Brixton Academy is also an amazing stage to play. But the move into Royal Albert Hall will be epic.”

The Cat Empire have been making an annual or bi-annual pilgrimage to Europe for over 10 years now.

London in particular has had a long standing love affair with this Australian band that burst onto the scene in 2003, amassing huge crowds due to an international reputation that preceded their arrival.

The Cat Empire has a massive army of fans the world over, for very good reason. They deliver incredible musicality, humour, entertainment and energy; guaranteed to make audiences smile and dance.

The band’s annual global pilgrimage now sees the gang play to over a quarter of a million people each year, not including festival crowds, which can treble that number.

More than a decade into their career, The Cat Empire have emerged as one of a small handful of international bands able to inspire such a dedicated following and enduring worldwide career.

Renown all around the globe as one of the world’s best festival bands, The Cat Empire have been touring and releasing records for well over a decade.  Best described with a series of slashes which might run something like this – Jazz/Reggae/Funk/Latin/Gypsy/Cuban/Australian party music – their latest album, Steal The Light debuted Top 20 in 6 countries.

With all of these accolades under their belts, one would think these very cool cats would take everything in their stride, but it’s nice to know they still get excited about career milestones.

“We are big on celebrations in The Cat Empire says the other co-front man, vocalist and percussionist, Felix Riebl.

“We order cakes to celebrate everything!  Royal Albert Hall constitutes a big event on our 2015 calendar” added Riebl.

“So much so” chimes in Angus, “that a lot of our parents and partners are flying over from Australia to be at the show”.

The Cat Empire’s June 2015 return to London will be accompanied by new music that the band has been recording in their home town of Melbourne with producer Jan Skubiszewski.

Now fully independent, and never a band to stick to the rules, they are expected to release the new material under a unique subscription model which will see core fans access it first.
