Australian fans star in Coldplay’s new video

UK band Coldplay recorded a video for the band’s upcoming single, ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’.

The result is a fun music clip with cameo appearances by happy Sydney fans who heeded the band’s Twitter call to 5 minutes of fame.

On Monday the band’s Twitter invite read, “We’re shooting the video for A Sky Full Of Stars on the streets of Sydney tomorrow. Does anyone want to be in it!?… 250 fans needed for #Asfos video tomorrow (Tues). Meet 11.30am at Courthouse Hotel, 202 Australia St, Newtown, Sydney. Bring a smile.”

More than 250 fans stepped in to help out their favourite UK band, showing up in Newtown on Tuesday for the filming of the Coldplay video.

Witnesses said that King Street next to the police station was transformed into a small scale rock concert while band members were dressed as one-man-band-performers, Chris Martin leading them and all the extras through the streets during the shoot.

The video was filmed ahead of Coldplay’s TV performance recording in Sydney on Thursday, followed by a show at the city’s Enmore Theatre.
