When going to a casino you may need to keep in mind that there are some unwritten rules you should aim to follow. These can range between important, to simple things you may not have thought of before.

Do remember if you are going to a casino any time soon, to only bet with money you can afford to lose. This includes when you’re playing games like Roulette online for real money.

Keep on reading to find out the top ten casino tips for first time players!

Know when to stop

This is one of the most important tips of all. It’s all well and good going to a casino with a budget in mind; but it can be easy to get carried away. You should always be mindful of how long you’re playing each game, so you know when to stop. Our advice would be to quit whilst your ahead, as you don’t want to lose any money you haven’t planned to spend.

Keep an eye on the time

This may seem random, but most casinos do not have a clock on the wall and dealers aren’t usually wearing a watch. This means you’re more likely to lose the concept of time whilst playing. So, make sure you are wearing a watch if you go, so you don’t spend more time, or money, there than you anticipated.

We wouldn’t advise you to rely on your phone for the time, as some casinos ban phones from the venue. A classic wrist watch is the way forward.

Tip the dealer

Whether you have won, or lost a game, it is always recommended you tip the dealer for their services. This shows you are a respectful player. Never storm off if you lose a game, as this might paint you in a bad light.

Treat everyone respectfully

This may seem like an obvious suggestion, but as seen above, you don’t want fellow players to avoid or not want to play with you. You should aim to remain calm and collected whilst playing, no matter what the outcome is – shake other players hands and move on.

Set a bankroll

This is a vital piece of advice. When walking into the doors of a casino you want to have a set idea of how much you are willing to spend. This money should be money you can afford to lose. Aka, your aforementioned budget – which is known in the casino world as a bankroll.

Read the small print

If you are heading to the casino for the first time, it’s important to read up on some of the rules of the classic games. This will help you to understand the format better, and the types of bets you can place, hopefully making you feel more confident when playing.

Get some practice!

Following the last tip, you could practise playing the online games to get to know them a little better. There are lots of free trials available on casino sites – some even offer free spins and promotions for new players.

Make smaller bets

Unless the rules of the game make it more likely that you’ll win by betting more, there is no reason to “bet more to win more”. Your chances of winning or losing are the same regardless of whether you bet 1 coin or 100 coins, for example. But you have more chances to win or lose when you bet 1 coin than when you bet 100 coins, as doing this will help your bankroll last longer.

Follow the house rules

Each casino is different, and some of them have specific rules in place. Always make sure you are aware of the rules before visiting, as some casinos don’t allow phones on the casino floor, or have a strict dress code, for example. If this is the case – stick to the regulations!

The casino always wins

Finally, one of the most important points to make. No matter how much you may win or lose, the real winner is the casino. Annually, they make huge profits, and always have the edge, so never think you are able to beat the casino.

Conclusion

We hope this article has helped you understand casino protocol a little better. Each of these tips are designed to help you get the most out of your gameplay, but the most important thing to take away is; always set a bankroll and remember to have fun!
