Nicotine pouches: What they are and how they can help you quit smoking

Have you ever wondered what the little white pouches some Swedish people place under their top lips are? They're nicotine pouches, and they may be the answer to help people quit smoking.

For people not accustomed to nicotine pouches or snus, it may seem a strange practice, but to Swedes, it’s as normal as having a cup of tea.

Using nicotine pouches

Nicotine pouches are easy to use, more palatable than smoking, and healthier than smoking. They are also used as a tool to help people who are wanting to quit smoking. To get the most out of the experience of using nicotine pouches, follow these simple guidelines.

Find a flavour that you like, but ensure that the product is of a high quality. Using a low-quality nicotine pouch is potentially harmful and will deliver a poor flavour release. Do some research and ensure that you select a product that is tried and trusted.

Before you apply the pouch, fluff it up a bit between your fingers and then place it under your top lip. Leave the pouch in place long enough for you to feel the nicotine hit and the flavour release. When this sensation fades, the pouch can be removed.

First-time nicotine pouch users

If you are wanting to quit smoking and have decided to use nicotine pouches to help you, it is wise to start with a lower level nicotine pouch. This should help eliminate the onset of dizziness, nausea and headaches, which may arise as a result of using a level that is too high.

Begin by using a smaller pouch. Not only will this give you less of a nicotine rush, but the smaller size will feel more comfortable under your lip until you get used to something being there.

Snus flavours on the market

There is a large variety of nicotine pouch flavours available on the market, including black liquorice, icy mint, tropical fruit and freshly roasted coffee. Each has a number of products available. Nicotine pouches are becoming more and more popular outside of Sweden, and shopping online is one of the easiest ways to get hold of the products you need.
