SAG Awards and the Oscars are some of the biggest events for all actors and actresses in the film industry. As many may know, acting is actually one of the oldest professions and super important when it comes to story-telling.

Oftentimes, novels or books, in general, become one of the things that end up being motion pictures. If you’ve ever read a book and enjoyed it a lot, you would often get excited about how it will be portrayed in the film. As reading and watching are two whole different mediums.

Books and motion pictures

When you read, you are able to draw pictures in your head about what the characters might look like. Or what the scene may look like. If you’re lucky, you will be pleasantly surprised about how it is represented in film. This is exactly how I felt about The Girl on the train – an intense thriller about o woman who is physically and emotionally abused by her husband.

In this year’s SAG Awards ceremony, there were too many good films to choose from. Even though there had to be a winner. One of my favorites, Squid Game, is one of the first foreign language series that received an award for outstanding performance by a stunt ensemble.

Winners at the SAG Awards

Actor Lee Jung Jae took home an award for best male actor in drama series and Jung Ho-Yeon took home an award for best female actor in drama series at the SAG Awards. If you haven’t watched Squid Game yet, the series follows individuals with financial problems who participate in dangerous versions of child games for money. Season 1 is available to watch on Netflix.

Now, so many popular films have been nominated but weren’t able to take home an award. Some of these films include The Power of the Dog which features Benedict Cumberpatch, Nightmare Alley featuring Cate Blanchett, and House of Gucci starring Lady Gaga.

The ultimate winner for outstanding performance in a supporting role was West Side Story. This film was turned into a musical adaptation by Steven Spielberg found Ariana Debose finally looking at herself as an actor at the SAG Awards.

Red carpet looks

On the silver carpet, all the stars dazzled in glitter and patterns which gave us fashion for days. Producer and actor Tyler Perry sported a yellow and blue ribbon on his navy tuxedo. This he did in honor of Ukraine at the SAG Awards. Presently, many actors have expressed their disappointment with the war Russia has instigated.

Others, have also commenced President Zelensky for fighting in the war. Thus far, many countries have since supported Ukraine in the war with Russia by means of weaponry.

Lastly, Helen Mirren received the Lifetime Achievement Award which was ceremoniously given to her by Cate Blanchette. As relayed by The Guardian, the 76-year-old believed that her award was a result of her mantra. That is, “Be on time and not be an ass”
