New Wallabies World Cup jersey, not a favourite

Video: It seems the nations agrees about one thing about the new Wallabies World Cup rugby kit, somewhere out there a designer should be fired.

It’s Canary yellow and if you look closely you might notice the country crest shoved to the right shoulder.  This is how  Wallabies fans feel about the new World Cup rugby kit revealed by Asics On Tuesday.

“It’s still green and gold and it still features the southern cross, but that’s more or less where the similarity between the Wallabies’ redesigned jersey for this year’s World Cup and its previous jerseys ends,” said one media report.

And the fans aren’t happy, not at all and expressed their dissatisfaction on Twitter:

n ARU press release said, of the kit launched on Wednesday, “Designed by scientists at the ASICS Institute of Sports Science (ISS) in Kobe Japan, the project has been an 18 month long collaboration between ASICS, the ARU and Wallabies squad members, who have been integral in testing designs throughout the process.

“Through scientific research and testing, ASICS has been able to develop a jersey that is lighter, stronger, more ergonomically fitted and harder to grab than previous Wallabies jerseys. The jersey has also been created with specially designed grip points which will enable players to hold the ball more securely .”

Yeah, but is it cool and would supporters be willing to wear it?

Managing Director of ASICS Oceania, Allan Russell, said: “We are pleased to be able to launch the Wallabies Rugby World Cup 2015 Jersey.

“We are very proud of this product, and I would like to acknowledge the ASICS team at the ISS behind the development of the Jersey,” Russell said.

“It is incredible to see the evolution of sportswear that is not only designed to enhance performance but proudly still embodies the true value and tradition of the Australia’s national rugby union team, the Wallabies.”
