Benedict Cumberbatch star of the BBC/PBS series Sherlock has been voted the world’s sexiest movie and television star.
Cumberbatch, an English film, television and theatre actor beat out a tough field of Hollywood movie stars including Ryan Gosling, Robert Patterson, Bradley Cooper, and Daniel Craig to claim the top spot.
While not as muscular, chiselled or as typically sexy as others on the list, Cumberbatch’s characters including Sherlock and Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, oozes a charisma, coolness and cleverness, which viewers fall in love with.
He will next appear as Julian Assange in the highly anticipated film The Fifth Estate.
The poll of 50,000 fans was carried out by Empire Online.
Australian actor and star of Thor, Chris Hemsworth came in number six. According to the film website he ranked highly because he is a devoted family man, has a great body, and smile.
Hugh Jackman was voted ninth sexiest actor because he can sing, dance, act, and has claws to rip people to shreds. He is also considered one of the nicest men in Hollywood.
In terms of female actors, Harry Potter star Emma Watson was named the world’s sexiest actress, followed by Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart.
