BILL SHORTEN has just sensationally announced that he has switched his support from Julia Gillard and will be voting for Kevin Rudd in the Labor leadership ballot due to take place at 7pm (Australia time).
Mr Shorten was one of Gillard’s most loyal backers. His switch indicates that the party is moving decisively behind Rudd. It is understood Mr Shorten also brings up to another seven votes with him. In comments to assembled media in Australia’s capital he said he feels the Labor party’s electoral chances are now served best under a Kevin Rudd leadership.
