F1 drivers call for the calendar to be adjusted
While the Grand Prix has already started, drivers have shared that the calendar should be adjusted. This comes as the travel between different countries especially to Australia is pretty far for F1 drivers.
Generally, F1 drivers would get some time to spend with their families but now it looks like it has to be shortened as they have to consider the time difference.
To prepare for their races, drivers always travel ahead of time to settle in and prepare. Right now, the gap between their previous race and Australia is pretty large for F1 drivers.
Preparing for jetlag and racing
As Melbourne will be a standalone race, both F1 drivers and mechanics will have extremely limited time to spare. Mechanics will especially suffer as they would have to travel much more.
According to Fox News, Melbourne was traditionally the season opener. This helped teams not grow travel-weary and was all-in-all quite agreeable.
To many other F1 drivers, the Melbourne race could have been done back to back with an Eastern country as it would narrow down the travel time. One such driver includes George Russel.
