Steve Kerr delivers a heartfelt message about Texas school shooting

Steve Kerr from the Warriors needed to take time in expressing his frustration with all the gun violence taking place in the United States.

While the motivation behind the mass shooting is not evident, previous attacks have been related to hate crimes and racism. For Steve Kerr, this occurrence is due to lack of support from superiors in the State. 

According to ESPN, ten black people were shot and killed at a New York supermarket. Officials have identified the attack to be that of hate crime. As the Warriors had an important game, Steve Kerr found it more important to speak about the lives lost. 

“I’m tired. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there.”

Presently, police officials have reported that the shooter has been killed. Among the many killed are 19 students and 2 teachers.

With the increasing gun violence taking place in the US, Steve Kerr stressed the importance of strengthening the laws. Surrounding the usage and ownership of a gun. 

“As coaches, as fathers, we have kids, people in this room have kids, elementary school; you can just think about what could take place with any of your family or friends at a school.”  

Thus far, gun laws in texas only require an individual to be 18-years of age and over to legally obtain a rifle. To own a handgun, you would need to possess a protective order if you face any threats at home or elsewhere.

As a coach and father, Steve Kerr notably took up his time to mourn the lives of the lost children and teachers at Robb Elementary School. Even though the Warriors could have earned a spot in the NBA Finals, Steve did not care about basketball on Tuesday evening.
