London terror attack: Australian resident among injured

An Australian permanent resident has been confirmed as being among those injured in Wednesday’s terror attack in London.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told Australia’s parliament on Thursday a German national who resides in South Australia was among the victims.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told the ABC that the woman, who has not yet been named and is recovering in hospital, narrowly avoided death when she had her foot run over by the terrorist as she tried to flee as he drove a vehicle through crowds of people on Westminster Bridge.

Five people were killed and around 40 were injured in Wednesday’s atrocity when the terrorist ploughed a vehicle along the pavement on the bridge, before crashing it and running into the grounds of the nearby Houses of Parliament.

There he stabbed and killed police officer Keith Palmer before being shot dead by police.
