Every few weeks it seems we get another clip on YouTube of some poor commuter copping a blast from another big-mouthed, racist idiot.
Thankfully on this occasion, the plucky Stacy Eden stepped in when a woman was hurling abuse at a Muslim couple on a Sydney train. The elderly lady was questioning the Muslim woman’s clothing
“Why do you wear it for a man that married a six-year-old girl?” the bigoted woman asks nonsensically.
“She wears it for herself, OK,” Eden interjects as she films the incident on her mobile phone.
“Because she wants to be modest with her body.”
The unidentified woman goes on to liken the abused couple to Islamic terror groups in the Middle East and Africa.
Ultimately an unflinching Eden tells her, “You shut your mouth.”
Good on you, Stacy!
“Just had enough”
Eden said she “just had enough” after tolerating hearing the woman abuse her fellow passengers for what she says was 10 minutes.
“I stood up and told her what she was saying wasn’t right,” Stacy told 2GB radio on Wednesday.
“I just felt so bad for them because they seemed to come across as so intimidated from what the woman was saying they couldn’t even say anything for themselves,” she said.
Bravo Stacy!
As the couple got off the train at Sydney international airport, Eden says she asked them not to judge others on the woman’s bigotry because “we’re not all like that”.
No, we really aren’t.
