Another van attack: more terror death in London

In the early hours of Monday morning a man drove a van into a crowd of Muslim worshipers near to the Finsbury Park Mosque in London.

One person has been confirmed dead and 11 people injured in the attack. The suspect driver of the van arrested at the scene has been named as 47 year old Darren Osborne from Cardiff in Wales who is alleged to have proclaimed that he “wanted to kill all Muslims”.

It is the fourth terror attack in the UK in recent months, and the third to hit London, following a vehicle being rammed into pedestrians on the bridge next to the Houses of Parliament, the concert bombing in Manchester, and the attack on London Bridge and Exmouth Market in which two Australians were among those who lost their lives and in which terrorists also used a van to mow innocent people down.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May called in an emergency COBRA meeting on Monday morning and confirmed the latest incident was being treated a terrorist act.

The Police also confirmed that they were treating the incident as a terror attack.

Muslims in London and around the world are currently taking part in the holy period of Ramadan.

British politicians of varying stripes were quick to join PM May in condemning the act, including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in whose electorate the incident occurred:
