UK singer songwriter, Passenger: Australian tour dates set

UK born singer song-writer Michael Rosenberg, known on stage as Passenger, will be touring Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand in January 2015.

Rosenberg, who founded the band Passenger with Andrew Phillips in 2003, retained his stage name after the band went their separate ways in 2009.

Embarking on his solo career he has had success with his single “Let her go” which received a lot of international radio play.

Australians first saw Rosenberg on stage in October 2009 when he toured the country supporting acts like Lior and Brian Campeau before which he turned to busking to support his craft.

The Brit Awards-winner had humble beginnings but has now accumulated 6.5 million single sales globally, No. 1 singles in 21 countries, numerous top 10 album chart positions and 1.2 million album sales.

He also performed at the One Movement music festival in Perth, 2009.  Australians soon fell in love with Passenger and his 500-seater venues across Australia soon sold-out for every performance.  In 2009 he also released his first album, ‘Wide Eyes Blind Love’.

His love affair with Australia was going very well and by 2011 he recorded his next album ‘Flight of the Crow’ in the country.

In 2012 he recorded yet another album, this time at Sydney’s Linear Recording and was joined once again by a fully-fledged Australian band including Boy & Bear drummer Tim Hart, jazz bassist Cameron Undy, with Stu Hunter from Katie Noonan & The Captains on keyboard.

Touring the UK in 2012 Passenger opened for acts like Jools Holland and Ed Sheeran.

A stint touring the USA, Paris and Ireland with Ed Sheeran, as Sheeran’s opening act, was followed by performances at five concerts in Australia and New Zealand in 2013.

That same year Rosenberg joined Australian acts the John Butler Trio, and Josh Pyke with a co-headlined UK tour.

This year he announced the release of his album ‘Whispers’ set to hit the air-waves on 9 June.

Tickets for Passenger’s Australian and New Zealand tour go on sale on May 30.
