To date, Macy Gray identifies herself as someone in support of the LGBTQ community. However, he comments on the uncensored show portrayed a different image for many viewers.

Recently, it was ruled that transgender women pay not to compete against cisgender women. As this would be an unfair advantage in competitions.

Thus far, the singer agreed that trans women should not be able to compete with biological women. But, this was not the problem that watchers found with Macy Gray.

During her discussion with Piers Morgan, Macy Gray shared that “just because you change your body parts, it does not make you a woman.” Inevitably, viewers quickly took to Twitter to call the singer a TERF. Which is a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist.

However, Macy Gray expressed that she has complete respect for the LGBTQ community and that she does not in any way criticize them for what they want to be.

‘If you want me to call you a her, I will, because that’s what you want but that doesn’t make you a woman just because I call you a her and just because you got a surgery.’

Shortly after the show, Macy Gray tweeted that her statement made on the show was grossly misunderstood. She further shared that she was not seeking to define trans women. She continued to add that she was describing what a woman is since she knows what it is like.

‘A woman goes through a completely unique experience and surgery and finding yourself doesn’t change that. Being a little girl is a whole epic book, you know? You can’t have that just because you want to be a woman.’

According to the Daily Mail, Macy Gray has been part of some controversial things before when she stated that the United States flag should be changed as it does not symbolize freedom. The singer went on to say that it should be representative of the people instead.

‘My idea was to make the stars the colors of all of us. So there would be a star representing you, one representing me, one representing everybody in the room, right. So that way you look up to the flag, you feel welcome, you feel included, you feel like you belong there.’
