London’s the right fit for The Jezabels

The Jezabels @ Heaven Nightclub,  Tuesday, 29 November

THE Jezabels are popping back into London so often we’re starting to think they like the place. Here for one night only they packed out the iconic Heaven nightclub in Charing Cross.

Watch our Australian Times TV interview with The Jezabels right now:

Starting out with ‘Prisoner’ and ‘Endless Summer’ off this year’s new album both songs highlight the styles of music the band has. ‘Prisoner’ a darker sombre piece while ‘Endless Summer’ enjoys the upbeat and anthem-style songs they are beginning to produce.

So long a band which was identified by the power of lead singer Hayley Mary’s voice, they now have come full circle with the other musicians in the band demonstrating the work and production which now highlights the bands fuller and intense sound. The guitar work of Sam Lockwood was a particular highlight on the night as he let loose several times with some powerful pieces. Intense touring seems to have worked for the band as they were playing with a new level of confidence.

Not stopping for breath much throughout the set, the band did seem genuinely in awe of the following they have now in the UK, thanking the audience and mentioning how surreal it was to be playing to such an audience in London. Fair comments, considering six months ago they were playing to around 50 people in Camden.

Covering a good mix between the new album and the two previous EP’s the band managed to keep old and new fans happy. The buzz around the place after the show was these guys seem to making all the right decisions.
