James Corden to exit the Late Night Show after eight years

James Corden has shared the news that he will no longer be hosting the Late Night Show. The comedian would have hosted for at least 8 years.

Right now, James Corden is focussing on moving upward in life instead of staying on the same train. The comedian explained that he wants to do more and did not plan on staying on the show forever. 

“When I started this journey, it was always going to be just that. It was going to be a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my final destination, you know?”

So far, the comedian has made quite the mark in his career. He added a little zest to television with his popular carpooling show which he hosted Adele and Lady Gaga. 

Late Night show contract extended until Spring

To date, James Corden had his work cut out for him as his contract was set to expire in August this year. Presently, the comedian has agreed to extend his contract till Spring next year. 

Thus far, it is not clear who will take over the role from James Corden but Amber Ruffin is one of the choices that might be considered. 

At this time, Amber Ruffin has her own Late Night Show streaming on NBC’s Peacock. According to The Guardian, she is the first black woman to write for a network Late Night talk show.

The CEO and President of CBS also shared his thoughts on James leaving. Adding that he wishes he could stay a while longer. 

“We wish he could stay longer, but we are very proud he made CBS his American home and that this partnership will extend one more season on The Late Late Show,”
