Former Miss Australia Erin McNaught weds UK rapper Example

BRITISH rapper Example and former Miss Universe Australia Erin McNaught have married in a small ceremony at a guesthouse in northern New South Wales over the weekend.

The high-profile pair has been together since 2011, after Ms McNaught met Example — real name Elliot Gleave — while interviewing the musician for MTV Australia. They announced their engagement six months ago, and Mr Gleave has spent much of early 2013 in Australia touring on the summer festival circuit.

Ms McNaught and Mr Gleave became husband and wife in front of an intimate gathering of family and friends at Deux Belettes guesthouse in Ballina. Mr Gleave said last year that the couple would have a small wedding in Australia before planning another ceremony in the United Kingdom for those that could not make it to Australia.

Mr Gleave said: “It’s going to be a small affair over there. We’ll have 50 people or so. My band will be there, but other than that it’s mainly family. We’ll have a massive smash-up when we are back next summer for our UK mates. I don’t think I’ll even wear a tie at the bash in Oz. It’s going to be really relaxed. Nothing fancy.”

The British musician, known for tunes such as Changed The Way You Kissed Me and Say Nothing, appeared to be relaxed on the morning of his wedding: Mr Gleave posted from his Twitter account on Saturday that he planned to get some exercise prior to the afternoon ceremony.

Mr Gleave wrote: “It’s 7.30am. Just going for a little 6 mile jog. Ceremony starts in 6 hours. Not sure if this is normal protocol for your wedding day… ?”

Ms McNaught, best known in the UK for her role as Sienna Cammeniti on soap opera Neighbours, took to social media after the wedding to thank well-wishers and officially change her online screen name to ‘Erin Gleave’.

Ms McNaught wrote: “Yesterday was absolute perfection. Thank you everyone for their wedding well-wishes. Now for the honeymoon… 😉 xx”

The Gleaves touched down in Tahiti yesterday for their honeymoon, following in the footsteps of Australian golden couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban in selecting Bora Bora as their destination. Mr Gleave posted on Twitter that he was “in Tahiti and my mobile service provider is called VINNI and my taxi driver is called Desley.”
