If you’ve been seeing a man for a while and the relationship has been casual so far, you may find that you want to take the relationship to the next level. But how do you know if he feels the same way? How can you get a man to commit when you’re not sure if that’s even what he wants? The best way to do this is to tell the man how you feel, both with your words and your actions, and if that doesn’t work you may have to do something a little more drastic.
Your Words
If you want to commit, let him know. You don’t have to just come out and say that you want to get more serious, especially if you’re afraid it will scare him away. Instead, just drop hints. Make comments about how much you two have in common, or about how you two would make a great couple. Make these comments in passing and then change the subject if you want to. At least you’ll be able to put the idea into his head so that he can marinate over it for a little while. Soon, he’ll begin to think it too and that’s when he may just ask you to commit to him. If you’re really good, you may even make him think that it was all his idea.
Your Actions
You can get him to commit with your actions, as well. Grab his hand and hold it while you two cross the street, or as you walk into the restaurant. Put your arm around his waist and pull him close to you. All of these are strong but still subtle hints that you’re really into him and that you want him and only him. You can also use body language to tell him how you feel. Lean towards him when he speaks and try to get lost in his eyes. He’ll get the hint sooner or later and then he’ll need to make his decision.
The Way He Feels
Soon, after dropping hints or using your actions, he’ll understand how he feels and he’ll have to decide. He can either come out and ask you to commit, or he can pretend that everything’s fine and that he can go on continuing to see you as he has been. Or, he may just be oblivious to your signs. Some men aren’t very good at picking up on women’s subtle behaviours. Therefore, if he still won’t take action even after you’ve told him how you feel, it’s time to get more drastic.
Drastic Actions
If you’re really serious about the man and you really want to commit, give him an ultimatum. Life is too short to waste your time on a man who only wants to play games. So, if it really comes down to it, tell him that you want a committed relationship or you have to break it off. While this may seem terrifying to do, it can usually give him the hint he needs to make a move. You may end up losing him forever, but at least you’ll know his true intentions.
Truth Be Told
The bottom line is that you need to let him know when you want to commit. If everything has been going well, and the two of you are meant to be, he will pick up on your cues and he’ll enter into a unwaveringly loyal relationship with you. If he’s only interested in playing games, however, you’re better off without him. If you really want to get serious with a man, he should feel the same way. If he doesn’t, go and find a man who wants to commit to you so that you can spend your time actually building a fulfilling relationship instead of wasting your time with a boy whose only desire is to play the field.
