Alec John Such: Former Bon Jovi bassist dies aged 70

Alec John Such was part of the Bon Jovi rock band in the 1980s. This past Sunday, the rock band shared the news of his untimely death. He was 70 years old.

Thus far, no cause of death has been in the bassist’s death. Jon Bon Jovi however, did share a tribute to the late Alec John Such who parted ways with the band in 1994. 

“We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original.”

Before joining the Bon Jovie rock band, Alec John Such was part of another band called Sambora, The Messenger. In 1983, the band was ultimately brought together by Such as he brought along Tico Torres and songwriter Richie Sambora. 

Ultimately, the band went through its Hey Day during the 80s and Alec John Such was part of five studio albums before he left the band in 1994.

According to NBC News, Alec John Such was a good deal older than all his other bandmates. At the time of joining, Such was at least 10 years older than his bandmates with hisalso lying about his age. 

“I was a good 10 years older than the rest of the band. My sister eventually got really mad because the papers would describe her as my older sister when really she was younger.”

Eventually, Alec found that being part of the band was much work and shared that he didn’t want to work. The bassist was around 43 when he decided to leave the band.

“When I was 43, I started to get burned out. It felt like work, and I didn’t want to work. The reason I got into a band, to begin with is because I didn’t want to work.”

In 2018, Such reunited with the band when he was inducted into the rock hall of fame. He added of the band that “(I) love them to death. I always will.”

To date, Alec played a good part in the band’s success by featuring in five of their albums. These albums include Slippery When Wet, New Jersey, and Keep the Faith.
