Census 2021 has shown a large amount of change since the 2016 census. Right now, Australia’s previous patterns in religion, housing, and ancestry have changed immensely.

Christianity drops in Census 2021 results

Today, the first batch of the census 2021 results have been released and will allow the government to see where the communities are at present so that they may make informed decisions on how to make Australia a better place.

Thus far, the census 2021 results show that the number of people following Christianity has dropped since the last census in 2016. While many homes shared that they have Christianity as a religion, the number dropped from 12 000 to 11 000 back in 2021.

Previously, Christianity was the dominant religion in Australia but that has since changed with some individuals becoming atheists. In some cases, people do not serve a God at all. However, they do not form a part of the atheist group.

Immigrants, same-sex marriages, and house affordability

To date, the second census 2021 results will be released next week Monday the 4th of July. When this is shared, Australians will have a greater understanding of what is going on in the country.

Another interesting fact is that a good amount of current Australians are either immigrants, they have parents who were born overseas, or their ancestry is not native Australian.

According to ABC News, the growing number of religions include Hinduism and Islam. This comes as more than half of Australia’s population were either first or second-generation immigrants.

Right now, the surveys conducted last year during heightened Covid conditions show that at least 24 000 same-sex marriages have been recorded since it became allowed in Australia.

So far, the census 2021 also shows that a third of Australia’s population is renting homes. This comes as the rise in home prices has continued to increase, showing that home affordability has become a great problem.
