Best Sports to Watch on TV

People actually prefer to watch sports on TV as opposed to traveling to a game to watch sports in-person.

Regardless of what television package you have or what you subscribe to, there are now more live sporting events available to watch than ever before.

Maybe you are looking for some background noise while playing at an online casino or maybe you are looking to throw a party for friends. There are some sporting events that are better to watch on TV though, and this list will rank some of the top options.

1. Golf

It’s hard to watch golf in person because you are either limited to just one hole or are stuck following one player around. That’s not the case when watching on television as you will be able to follow along with the entire field.

Golf broadcasts do an unbelievable job of showing the most important shots, and they are able to bounce back and forth quickly. Golf is also a popular sport to play, and it’s amazing watching the professionals make tough shots on hard courses.

2. Soccer

Soccer is a sport that doesn’t feature many goals, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t exciting to watch. This is the most popular sport worldwide, and there has been a big push in the United States as well.

Even though there aren’t many goals scored, the action is still back and forth for more than 90 minutes. The goal celebrations in soccer are also worth watching for, and most of the stadiums are packed and provide plenty of energy.

3. Track and Field

Track and field, especially during the Summer Olympics is one of the best live sporting events to watch. Even if you have no knowledge of anyone in the race, it is still a blast to watch these world-class athletes compete against one another.

The 100 meter dash and the relays are usually the top viewing option for track and field enthusiasts, but any race has the possibility to end in a photo finish.

4. Horse Racing

Horse racing used to be one of the most popular sports in the World, but that is no longer the case. It’s hard to follow horse racing unless you are a big fan, but it’s still extremely enjoyable to watch a race.

The biggest race in the World is the Kentucky Derby, and this is one of the best sporting events to watch at home. It’s over in a couple of minutes, and you will find no shortage of excitement as the race is going on.

5. Basketball

Basketball is extremely popular at both the college and professional levels, and each game is exciting to watch. March is a huge month for the sport of college basketball, and the NBA Playoffs attract plenty of attention in April-June.

Basketball is tough to watch in the final few minutes of a close game, because there are so many breaks in the action. The overall experience of watching basketball is still terrific and you always have the chance of seeing an incredible play.

6. Hockey

You might be surprised to find hockey so high on the list, but this has to be viewed as one of the best sports to watch on TV. Watching it in the arena does provide an even better experience, but this is still a great sport to view through a television.

Hockey is not a sport that has a major following, but it’s hard to deny that the games aren’t a blast to watch. There are very limited stops in the action during NHL games, and it’s incredible to watch the players fly up and down the ice.

7. Football

There really wasn’t even another option when trying to come up with the best sport to watch on TV. Whether it is college football or the NFL doesn’t really matter as both of these options are the most enjoyable.

Football is a sport that is action-packed, and the NFL games now feature more scoring than ever. College football and the NFL dominate the ratings every weekend in the fall, and both sports do a tremendous job of marketing the top players.

Most football games take three hours or less, and you will see plenty of action during that time.
