An engagement ring is a symbol of love and commitment, but it is also a big financial step. You may not be able to get many fancy extras at this time, but you can dip into savings later to pay for a bigger ring. Even if you are on a strict budget, you can still shop around to find the best value for your money. Click here for more information.

You love her so much that you want to get down on one knee and pledge your love forever. However, it is also important to think about what she wants too, not just how much of an impressive rock she will wear on her finger. Therefore, a lot comes into play when buying an engagement ring.

Here are 5 things to consider when buying your engagement ring!

  • Type of stone to choose

Choosing the right stone is not always easy. First, it is important to remember that an engagement ring is a symbol of love and commitment, so the choice of stone should be between two people.  Usually, the ring is a diamond. However, other kinds of stones are an option to make a unique design. If you cannot afford a diamond, go for alternatives like Moissanite!

  • The size of the stone

Size does not necessarily matter when it comes to an engagement ring. It all depends on the type of stone you choose. Again, you must know what your partner wants to wear.

There is pressure from society and friends to get bigger and more expensive rings than what you can afford. If you worry about the size of the stone, just remember not to go overboard with it.

  • Pick a Ring Style

There is no such thing as an “engagement ring” style. However, you can consider some popular styles available in the market. For example, if she wears a lot of dainty jewellery or has tiny hands, get her a small engagement ring. If she wears larger rings and has big hands, look at some bigger and bolder styles.

  • Understand the Four Cs

If you are not familiar with diamond jargon, these four characteristics of a diamond affect its value: color, clarity, cut, and carat. Each one of these is assigned a letter grade (A through J) based on the diamond’s appearance under 10x magnification (10x is standard in most stores).

Generally, “ideal” or top-notch quality diamonds will have D-F grades. Diamonds rated F are typically the best and more beautiful than J diamonds, even though they are less pure. A well-cut stone reflects light better than a poorly cut one and this makes it seem more brilliant and shiny.

  • Know Your Limitations

If you find a set that looks great to you, but your budget is tight, ask the store what other options they have for less money. It is impossible to go into a jewelry store and see everything in person. Therefore, do not hesitate to ask them to send you pictures or videos of something specific or if they can get it in the next week.

You may find something just as beautiful for less money that will fit into your budget. If you are buying a ring with an even larger diamond, it will cost more. If you need to save some money on the smaller stones, ask them about diamonds in lower price ranges. However, they should have comparable clarity grades and cuts.

Buy your Perfect Engagement Ring

Do your homework before buying an engagement ring for your loved one.  There are many excellent online vendors. However, if you are going to pay thousands of dollars for an engagement ring, it is worth looking in person.

The perfect ring reflects the depth of your feelings for her. You may not be able to get many fancy extras at this time, but you can dip into savings later to pay for a bigger ring. Even if you are on a strict budget, you can still shop around to find the best value for your money.
