Wildlife Photographer of the Year Winners Announced

Since the debut of the first competition in 1964, new winners of the Wildlife photographer have been announced in the respective categories.

The Wildlife Photographer of the year celebrates its new set of winners in 2021!

Competition details

As of this year, the competition attracted 50,000 entries from 95 countries. Differing from previous counts of 600 entries from 82 countries.

Each year the competition opens up submissions from the month of February while winners are announced in the middle of October.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year Winners

Adult Grand Title Winner

This year, French underwater photographer and biologist, Laurent Ballesta has won the grand title of Wildlife Photographer of the year.

Young Grand Title Winner

Following the adult category, ten-year-old Vidyan R Hebbar earns the award of Young Wildlife Photographer of the year 2021.

Dr. Natalie Cooper, a jury member and a researcher at the Museum, says, “The jury loved this photo from the beginning of the judging process.”

Interestingly, the ten-year-old has entered the competition two years ago with another spectacular photo of a spider which then earned him a commendable title.

Additionally, Vidyan lives in Bengaluru, India, and enjoys capturing everyday city creatures that are often overlooked.
