This is one of the happiest moments of your life. You have finally become a parent, and you are all set to bring your baby home from the hospital. But wait. Is your home ready to welcome its newest family member? A comfortable cot and separate room aren’t the only requisites of a newborn baby.

1. Keep pests away

Pests are a strict no-no in any house that expects a newborn child. They can wreak havoc in your family. From mosquitoes to flies, pests are carriers of a multitude of germs. You shouldn’t let them wander around in your house. Therefore, make sure you get in touch with a pest control Sydney company before you bring home your newborn child. Effective pest control professionals know how to handle different types of pests. They would implement a combination of techniques to keep unwanted pests away from your home, thus setting up an ideal place for your newborn to move in.

2. Clear the clutter away

Remember, you will have to deal with a lot of clutter once the baby comes. So, it’s better to clear the existing clutter to prevent your house from becoming a mess. Sometimes, even the tidiest homes look messy once you bring home the pram, bouncer, bottles, toys, changing mat, and Moses basket. Take time to make a list of items that you don’t want to keep around the baby. That should help you declutter the rooms quickly. For example, you can keep books, records, CDs, and bicycles away for a few months and make room for the baby.

3. Keep a downstairs basket ready

Babies need approximately 12 nappies every day. Imagine going up and down the stairs every time your baby poops. That can make you tired, especially because you won’t get to sleep peacefully all night. Your baby will wake you up multiple times. To avoid such hectic trips to the storeroom, you can keep a downstairs basket ready in your baby’s room. It should contain all the essentials, such as spare baby clothes, cotton wool, baby wipes, nappies, and muslin cloths. These should keep your baby clean and happy throughout the day.

4. Change the lights

You will probably still have the lights that you had installed after moving into the house. Those lights need replacement before the baby moves in. Bright lights aren’t suitable for babies. Therefore, you should invest in dimmer lights like night lamps and ambient bulbs. They are pleasing for babies. You may notice babies crying as soon as you switch on the lights in their rooms. That’s because their eyes are still not used to bright lights. Dim lights make babies drowsy. It would help you put them to sleep quickly.

Bringing home a newborn baby is a huge responsibility. And one of those responsibilities is to make the home a better place. Follow the tips above to make your home welcoming for your newborn.
