Attentions now turn to the upcoming Euro 2020 internationals played in June and July. But there is an interest for those preferring to stick with club league action. The Major League Soccer season is back, drawing fans from across the globe.

In this article, we pick out the talking points from the opening few games, explain how you can gamble on the play using respected MLS Betting Sites and ways to watch the play live at home or on your mobile device.

Revolution rocket to the front

New England Revolution has been the most impressive team in the opening month of the Eastern Conference. They rocketed to the top of the league thanks to two wins and a draw, taking seven of the first time points available to them.

Many MLS pundits had picked New England for a successful season, and they have certainly looked the part so far. Revolution opened their account for May by going top of the table thanks to a 2-1 home win over Atlanta United. In what was a tense affair, New England grabbed the points with goals scored by Bye and Gil, the latter coming from the penalty spot with 53 minutes on the clock. A close match, but titles are won and lost in such games. Champions know what it takes to dig out a result.

New York, hot on the heels of the leaders

Their closest rivals to date have proven to be New York City FC, who bounced back from an opening game defeat to win their next time. Six points from nine kept NYC FC on the heels of the pacesetters. They caught the eye with an impressive 2-0 away win over Philadelphia Union on May 2. The goals that day were scored by Medina early in the contest and Catellanos with 65 on the clock.

Five of 14 MLS teams came through the opening three weeks with their unbeaten record intact. That included New England Revolution, Orlando City SC, CF Montreal and Nashville SC. Despite being part of the unbeatens, the latter find themselves in the bottom half of the table after three draws and three points in their first three league games.

Who the bookies have picked

It may still be the early stages of the MLS season, with many teams yet to find their feet, but followers can get an idea of what to expect this year by looking at the betting. Traders at the major betting sites have given their thoughts on who they expect to be the big winners and losers of MLS this season, and it makes for exciting reading.

The current betting favourites to win the MLS Cup is Los Angeles FC. They were the top team in the eyes of the bookies before the season got underway, and the money men have seen nothing that has forced them to reconsider. LAFC were unbeaten in their first three games of the Western Conference picked up just five of the first nine points available. They opened the season with a win but followed it with back-to-back draws.

The main contenders to Los Angeles are Columbus Crew of the Eastern Conference, but they have suffered a mixed bag of results so far. The Crew drew their first two games, but better is expected of them as they get into the thick of the season and find their form.
