A research essay is an independently written paper on a topic proposed by a teacher of the corresponding discipline (a topic can be suggested by a student but must be approved by the teacher).

The specifics of the essay genre are as follows:

  1. The title of the essay is not directly dependent on the topic: in addition to reflecting the content of the paper, it can be a starting point for author’s reflection.
  2. The composition is subordinate to its internal logic, and the author’s reflections provide the main idea of the essay. In this case, the problem raised will be considered from different angles.
  3. The author’s position is clearly expressed.

Writing a research essay can be extremely difficult, especially if you don’t have experience. In such cases, students choose to buy an essay safe from expert writers, who you can find on various writing services. You will receive an essay sample that will help you understand how to competently formulate your thoughts, structure information, and illustrate concepts with relevant examples.

Tips for writing a research essay

  • Choose the topic wisely

The topic should not initiate the presentation of only the definitions of concepts; its purpose is to induce thought. The essay topic should contain a question and a problem, and it should motivate readers to think. Also, it is important to choose a topic that is interesting to you. Your essay will be boring if you don’t want to write on a specific topic.

  • Plan before writing

Planning is defining goals, main ideas, sources of information, and deadlines for completing and submitting the paper. In this case, the goal should determine the actions. Thoughts, feelings, views, and perceptions can be expressed in the form of analogies, associations, assumptions, reasoning, judgments, arguments, etc.

  • Look for the right sources

The essay topic will tell you where to look for the material. Usually, they use a library, Internet resources, dictionaries, and reference books. The quality of the source consists of four main components: clarity of thought, intelligibility, literacy, and correctness.

  • Follow the essay structure

In the introduction of a research essay, it is necessary to pose the problem, formulate the goals and objectives of the study, and explain the limitations of this work. The introduction also gives a brief description of the object under study and defines the subject framework of the analysis. In this section, you should justify your scientific interest in the study of the selected problem, analyze the literature available in this area, and offer your own research to argue the methodology and methodological apparatus.

In the body of the research essay, you will formulate meaningful research questions and find answers to them. You need to find some interesting fact, highlight it and consider it in detail, and justify your conclusions. Having singled out any of the problems as the main one, it is necessary to analyze the works available on this topic.

The final part of the essay summarizes the interpretations made in the main body. If possible, it is desirable to give considerations regarding the typicality of the described problem, such as regarding the possibility of generalizing the conclusions of the research.

  • Format the bibliographic references correctly

All sources mentioned in the essay must be accompanied by bibliographic references. The author is obliged to indicate the sources of all quotes, figures, and other information cited in the research essay, for example, ideas that were read or heard at a lecture or seminar. All abbreviations must be deciphered.

At first glance, writing a research essay does not seem difficult. But often, when writing this kind of paper, people make mistakes. Follow our recommendations, and your essay will get an A. Good luck!
