Must Have Travel Technology for Your Next Trip

While travel might not look the same as it did pre-pandemic, many travelers feel ready to cautiously resume driving long distances, flying, and using other modes of public transportation. Below are several types of technology to make the next trip as comfortable and efficient as possible.

The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdowns to slow its spread interrupted travel plans for millions of travelers around the globe. Now that restrictions are starting to ease in many countries, people are anxious to get back to traveling for business or pleasure.

Wireless Headphones or Earbuds

Flying on a plane can get loud, especially for those sitting near the engine. The noise can get so loud that some people find it difficult to focus on reading, conversation, using a laptop, or whatever else they do to pass the time while flying.

Active noise cancelling earbuds or headphones are often the ideal solution. These units come equipped with technology that uses external microphones to detect, analyze, and break down sounds to transform them into readable waves. It plays the opposite sounds at the same decibel level to effectively cancel out sounds the user doesn’t want to hear.

External Battery Charger

Anyone who has ever flown knows that the best-laid plans don’t always work. A business traveler might have enough battery power to keep a laptop and smartphone going from one destination to the next. However, delays, layovers, and even missed flights can happen to anyone, leaving travelers with little or no power for their devices.

Investing in an external battery charger can help travelers avoid this problem. Newer external battery chargers are much smaller and lightweight than older models. With most now weighing less than a pound, this is an easy item for travelers to pack and retrieve when necessary.

Clothing That Reflects Sun and Repels Insects

People typically wouldn’t think of a shirt or pair of pants as a high-tech item that makes travel easier. For those who want to remain safe and comfortable, however, reflective clothing is a must-have item for the suitcase. These clothing items are breathable and lightweight, which ensure they keep the traveler comfortable throughout the day. They reflect sun for those day-long sightseeing or hiking trips as well as keep mosquitos and other pesky insects away.

Portable Coffee Maker

The daily coffee habit can get expensive when traveling away from home. It might also not be what the traveler usually drinks, making for a disappointing start to the day. Keurig recently released a portable coffee maker that allows people to make one cup of coffee at a time. The coffee maker is just five inches wide, but it produces a hot cup of coffee between six and 12 ounces. With this unit, travelers can place up to nine single-cup coffee pods in the unit for easy access when it’s time for the next cup of coffee.

Waterproof Smartphone Case

Americans can’t wait to get back to beaches and pools. Having been away from there for at least a few months now, they may have forgotten how easy it is to damage or destroy their smartphones around water. A waterproof smartphone protects the phone from any moisture damage. This is good news since water-logged smartphones tend to perform inconsistently and could cause owners to lose pictures, phone contacts, and numerous apps.

Self-Cleaning Water Bottle

The coronavirus pandemic has made people more aware than ever about transmittable germs and bacteria. Self-cleaning water bottles come in handy when it’s impossible to sanitize immediately after use. One of the newest self-cleaning water bottles created by LARQ removes nearly all bacteria from water using UVC-light. LARQ does not use any BPA or mercury in its self-cleaning water bottles unlike some of its competitors. The traveling bottle makes it easy to drink filtered and healthy water on the go. It automatically cleans itself every two hours.

Luggage Tracker

Travelers can feel anxious when separated from their luggage when flying. Although suitcases usually end up at the same destination as travelers, that isn’t always the case. Placing a luggage tracker on the suitcase prior to checking it is a simple way to ease this anxiety. The tracker comes with a GSM chip that alerts the traveler with a smartphone message when within 30 feet of his or her own luggage. Trakdot recently released a subscription-based luggage tracker with these features.

Although travel can be fun, it isn’t always convenient. Using any one of these technology products helps to make the next trip as stress-free as possible.
