British backpacker Sophie Paterson says she is not bowled over by the death-defying swim of an Aussie suiter in crocodile infested waters.
18-year-old Lee De Paauw is lucky to be alive after a crocodile attacked him on Sunday in the Johnstone River in north Queensland.
The croc took a chunk out of De Paauw’s arm when he went for a drunken night swim to impress Paterson who he had met that day.
“I started telling about how backpackers are more likely to get eaten by a crocodile than Australians. So, we decided to go down to the river and test the theory,” Mr De Paauw told Nine News from hospital.

The Innisfail teenager escaped after punching the reptile on the nose and gouging its eye.
But the object of his affections says that risking his life was definitely not the way to win her heart.
“I would have to be quite twisted to be impressed by that,” Paterson told Channel 7’s Sunrise on Tuesday.
“Risking your life, there is nothing funny about that.
“I’m not impressed by somebody risking their life.”
Meanwhile, over on another morning show De Paauw bragged explained his misadventure and claimed to have scored a date with the blonde Brit.
But Paterson simply said she would try and squeeze a visit in.
“I had the intention of driving to the hospital the next morning but he was moved to Cairns,” the backpacker said.
“I’ll try to pop up at the weekend if I can. I have a commitment to a job that I can’t get out of.”
The attack occurred over the same weekend and in the same town, Innisfail, as the fatal attack on diver Warren Hughes.
