There are more options available for budget travellers as well. However, all these options involve saving money or planning in advance to travel cheaply. What happens if you run out of money while on tour?

In reality, vacations cannot be planned down to every little detail. Not everything goes according to plan. It is, in fact, one of the joys of travelling. When an unexpected expense occurs, which it most likely will on a vacation, you must have the means to finance it.

Most travellers, even budget ones, put aside emergency funds before getting on the plane. This is not always possible for everyone. Therefore, here are several useful tips finance a vacation if you run out of money in the middle of it:

Blog about Your Experiences

Most travellers blog professionally. Blogging in this manner takes years to take off. However, if you need cash immediately, and if you have a good story to tell, you can write a guest post for a person who has a blog. Most bloggers are overwhelmed and would welcome a guest post or a travelling ghost writer. If you expected to get paid, you might have to give up authorship. But you will be able to make a hundred dollars or more that will help your travel budget.

Bartend

Tourists are not allowed to work on vacation. However, that law won’t prevent you from taking up irregular and temporary jobs for cash pay. Certain restaurants, bars and clubs in tourist area prefer to have tourists bartending and pandering to potential clients. For example, take Bali. A lot of Australians travel there. So, local bar owners prefer to have an Aussie bartending to attract other Aussies. You might be able to land a job like this to make some extra cash.

Try House Sitting

Accommodation is the biggest expense during vacations. Budget travellers usually end up in hostels and homestays en route. However, if you want a completely free accommodation option you can try house sitting or pet sitting. Here, you will look after a person’s house and possibly a pet until that person returns from their vacation. These arrangements can last from couple of days to weeks. You can easily search for house sitters in the area you are travelling online. Use only reputable apps and websites to find house sitter opportunities.

Become a Promoter

You can also promote a locale to an international tourist organization for a fee. This is a bit like a celebrity promoting a brand. Tourist authorities, local agencies, and tour operators desperately want customer testimonials to promote their services and the locale. As a tourist, you are in a prime position to become a promoter like this. You can reach out and offer your services as a face of an advertisement in return for a small fee.

As you can see, there are a number of ways you can finance a vacation while you are actually going on tour. Try one or two of the above methods next time you are on the road.
