Australia Day falls on a Monday this year and the gang at London’s Jetlag bar say: “What better way to celebrate than calling in a sickie and taking the day off to enjoy classic Australian films, the Triple J Hottest 100 and some cracking live music?”

They are loading up the fridges with quality brews from Down Under including Little Creatures, Coopers and James Boags. On the food front, take your pick from Surf & Turf Sliders, Kangaroo Steak, Aussie Burgers as well as top crisps and snacks to satisfy those home grown cravings.

Australia Day Live Music @ The Purple Turtle

While Jetlag is hosting the flicks and Hottest 100 on Australia Day, the Purple Turtle is rocking out with live sounds from The Punching Preachers.

Back for another great Australia Day set, the ‘Preachers (below) are one of the best rock bands in London and are sure to give celebrating Aussies a night to remember, playing Down Under favourites and all time rock classics.

Joining them for the 2015 Australia Day special are Stalkin Hawkin. Heavily influenced by the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J and The Vaccines, as well as more mellow artists such as Lucy Rose, Ed Sheeran and The XX, the Hawkin crew have recently played at the Borderline and O2, and will be kicking off the night in style.
